Today Was A Good Day

Today was a good day

For I couldn’t smell my rotting brain—

Instead, it was the sweet taste of silence

Exhaled from my breath.

Today was a good day

For I saw actual colors in paintings

Rather than geometrically structured pixels

That worked as units to become a whole.

Today was a good day

For I couldn’t stop the laughter

Boiling up my throat—

There was no misery to cackle failures

In the form of chokes.

Today was a good day,

Even though my strings are pulled

By a mental puppeteer,

I am grateful my head was lifted—

For once, my disease was clear.
